Our upcoming events page is brimming with exciting performances, masterclasses, and workshops designed to inspire and engage musicians of all levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to hone your skills or an experienced pianist seeking new challenges, we have something for everyone.
THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK PIANO FESTIVAL
Saturday, April 24, 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Performances at Jim Carmichael’s house:
1425 Plummer Drive, Rockwall
Performance times by appointment.
We will still be operating in the COVID manner. Students will remain in cars in driveway until the appointed time.
Dress is recital grade. Dresses for girls. Button shirt and dress pants for boys.
Solos are to be memorized. Ensembles do not have to be memorized. A complete schedule will be handed out on Green Elephant Week (April 19 week).
Any time constraints should be identified as soon as possible. Once again, our judge will be Nick Messick from University of North Texas.
THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK PIANO RECITAL
Thursday evening, May 20, 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Recital will be held at Chandler’s Landing Yacht Club in Chandler’s Landing
501 Yacht Club Drive, Rockwall, 75032
The evening will be themed as in a 1930’s/1940’s Dance Club. Attire will be 1940’s period. Men: coat and tie, Women: dressy gowns. Performers should be attired the same as well.
Solos will be memorized. Ensembles do not require memorization.
Pianos for the event will be moved from Jim Carmichael’s home.
All solos and two piano pieces will be performed as per the April 24th festival.
All persons will be seated at tables accommodating up to eight persons.
If you would like to reserve a table in your family’s name and have not already done so, please let your teacher know.
Dinner for those who would like it will be available.
Cash bar will also be available for those who would like it.
Dinner and bar will be the responsibility of the person’s ordering it.
A dance floor will be available for those who would like to dance to our classic tunes.
Nick Messick will be providing a jazz quartet featuring members of UNT various jazz bands and vocalist: Makenzie Baird. They will be playing when students are not.
Menus will be provided in advance in another month or so.
You will have the opportunity to decorate your table in advance. A prize will be awarded to the table with the best décor.
